Dear volunteers,

As of today 40% of the initial campaign of W boson simulation has been completed. The first sample of the campaign contained 80.000 WUs. Thanks to the many volunteers a bit of over 7.000 Wus are concurrently processed; the total of completed WUs is a bit over 30.000.

many thanks!

Dear volunteers,

The ATLAS@home is currently experiencing some load issues which prevent to serve as many WUs as volunteers request for.

We are working on the infrastructure and on improving the workflow (longer WUs).

Thanks to all of you for participating to the current effort.

Regards

Hi,

Is this news related to problems that started last night ?

I still have one WU that won't upload from then...

10/06/2015 09:32:54 | ATLAS@home | [error] Error reported by file upload server: [mqTKDm6wTMmnDDn7oo6G73TpABFKDmABFKDmbvHKDmABFKDm59xWtn_0_ATLAS_result] locked by file_upload_handler PID=-1
10/06/2015 09:32:54 | ATLAS@home | Temporarily failed upload of mqTKDm6wTMmnDDn7oo6G73TpABFKDmABFKDmbvHKDmABFKDm59xWtn_0_ATLAS_result: transient upload error

Anything I can do to get it to go ?

Apologises.

Is there a way you can show on the server status page how far we are (as a percentage) in the current batch of WU's... We can only see how many are ready for sending, but not how far we are in the total amount of WU's.

We will try to implement this, it might take us some time, thanks for the suggestion. As of now, 47966 out of 80k WUs were done (59%).

You mean these badges? https://atlasphysathome.web.cern.ch/content/standard-model-badges

That would be really nice!

Is there an estimated time (range) you expect them to be implemented?

Great! I am looking forward to them :) Hopefully the current received credits and participation time counts too for these new badges.

Hello,

Today 83% of the WUs of the first bunch of W boson campaign are finished (67k / 80k) !

Another bunch of W boson WUs is in preparation.

Thank you again for your contribution to the simulation effort of ATLAS.

Hello,

status of the W simulation campaign as of today :

o 95% of the original batch of 80.000 WUs have been processed!

o another batch of 80k WUs has been defined and is currently being processed.

Thank you very much to all the volunteers for their participation to the simulation effort!

Message 2547 - Posted: 23 Jun 2015, 13:27:30 UTC

Hello volunteers!

Today's status of W simulation campaign :

- First task (80.000 WUs) : 97 % done
- Second task (80.000 WUs) : 44 % done

The first task is not completed yet because of WUs that did not completed within allocated time window or for many different reasons (WU canceled by volunteer, I/O issues, etc...). Optimisation of the workflow to submit WUs to 'reliable' hosts is needed for a fast completion of tasks. However that is not required today. More important if the number of complete WUs.

Thank you again to all of you!

Regards

For a faster turnaround, perhaps consider to revert to only one week before timeout? For the current smallish jobs, that should be ok(?)

Talk with your colleague from Sixtrack; they were fighting with the same Problem.

I'm not shure if I remember only diskussions about that or if it is already implemented in BOINC-Server-Code and has only to be activated
