Hi, I'm having a problem with this project, a lot of tasks are failing within a few seconds.
An example would be #6638941

The log claims that Virtualbox disables hardware acceleration, then complains and crashes because the machine needs acceleration.
My CPU supports VT-x, and it's enabled in the bios, but it doesn't support VT-d (i7-4770k), however I don't think that's the problem.

VT-d is not needed to crunch ATLAS WU.

You can try to follow this checklist from Yeti:

http://atlasathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=510

hope that helps you, otherwise ask.

Okay, it took me a while to get an ATLAS task. I followed all the steps in that post, even downgraded VBox from 5.1.x to 5.0.x, but I still fail after 2 or 3 seconds for every ATLAS task.

hm, thats weird. Do you know if you can create and run a virtual machine with virtualbox manually (another one than Atlas, for examle Ubuntu or Debian)?

The only thing that i can think of which may help is to completely remove boinc (with deleting the DataDirectory) and virtualbox (only if you cant run a VM manually) and start from scratch.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I can create a VM manually.
I have recently tested something in Arch Linux, and Virtualbox handled the VM with no problem.

After removing BOINC's ProgramData directory, the problem remained.

your logs say this:

2016-08-31 17:50:50 (15840): Hardware acceleration failed with previous execution. Disabling VirtualBox hardware acceleration support.
2016-08-31 17:50:50 (15840): ERROR: Invalid configuration. VM type requires acceleration but the current configuration cannot support it.
2016-08-31 17:50:50 (15840):
NOTE: VirtualBox has reported an improperly configured virtual machine. It was configured to require
hardware acceleration for virtual machines, but your processor does not support the required feature.
Please report this issue to the project so that it can be addresssed.
Error Code: ERR_CPU_VM_EXTENSIONS_DISABLED

so i would assume the problem has to do something with VT-x in some way. Are you 100% sure that it is enabled?
To check this, go into your BIOS/UEFI settings and check if VT-x or Virtualization Technology or something like this is enabled.
To crunch atlas tasks is HAS TO be enabled, otherwise it wont work.
According to Intel, your CPU supports VT-x.
