ATLAS and vLHC are bot projects run at CERN.
Many if not most people engaged in distributed computing with an interest in physical science run both of these projects.

In the future, however - given the latest Virtualbox version usage policy of the ATLAS project and the fact that the newer versions to the best of my knowledge are still not officially supportedby vLHC - this may change: Change in a direction where we might have to decide which of the two projects to prefer.

If that would happen, I would find this a very, very sad development and with this posting, I hope I can sensitize the project developers to somehow coordinate their efforts in order to ensure that the supported Virtualbox versions for both projects are the same.

Michael.

Whatever the policy, VirtualBox 5.1.4 works fine for me on both projects.

Hi Michael,

I discussed this with Laurence from vLHC and he said that VirtualBox 5 is fully supported. The thread you link is an old one which has now been updated with the most recent information. We are in regular communication with vLHC and work together to ensure that volunteers can contribute to all CERN projects.

Is it possible to use at ATLAS and LHC@Home the same vboxwrapper.
26.196 in ATLAS and 26.197 in LHC?
