Welcome Nairb ,

the configuration ,you describe ,is able to run atlas tasks.

the answer is in the main page, at the item "Join Atlas"

A reasonably powerful modern 64-bit computer with at least 4GB of memory is required to run ATLAS@Home. Enabling 64-bit virtualisation may require some changes in BIOS settings.

Thanks... I found that if I downloaded the latest boinc version it came with the Virtualbox. So I did this and manages to download 1 atlas w/u. I found out that I needed to change some bios settings which I did. Unfortunately I also managed to stuff 2 atlas w/u in the messing about but tried with a 3rd one and it seems to work but runs the laptop out of memory... I thought I had 6 gig but only have 4. I have another 4gig to install. So when I get round to it I will put the extra ram in and see if the machine can cope with 1 atlas w/u at a time. It seems strange that the cpu's seem to run almost at idle when doing the 1 atlas w/u.
I will experiment further.

If your laptop run out of memory , it could be because you don't have set up an app_config.xml file and put it in the directory of your atlas project:
C:\ProgramData\BOINC\projects\atlasathome.cern.ch (for windows 10)
You can have more information in this post and the official documentation
By the way , your laptop seems to have 8 Go of RAM in the identity card of your computer...
You can check it in your windows task manager.(item : memory).

Thanks PHILIPPE, I did update the machine with another 4 gig of ram to make 8. And it seems to work ok now but still uses all available ram so I have created an app_config.xml file and put it in the directory mentioned. I have limited it to 7.5gig. I will see how that goes. But I seem to complete w/u's ok which is good.

Thanks
Nairb
