Hello everybody!

I got the following problem:

I'm getting single core workunits for computer id 66716, although i have selected these project preferences:

Run only the selected applications - ATLAS Simulation: no
ATLAS Simulation Running on Multiple Core: yes

If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? - no

How can i prevent getting ATLAS Simulation v2.01 (vbox_64) tasks?

Would <max_concurrent>0</max_concurrent> in the app_config.xml work?

Thanks and regards,
djoser.

Hi there,

Same for me. I have ATLAS@Home preferences configured 24 hours ago to:

Run only the selected applications
- ATLAS Simulation: no
- ATLAS Simulation Running on Multiple Core: yes

If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? - yes

And yet I am still receiving single core WUs.

This is very strange, maybe a bug in the BOINC scheduler. I have the same settings but only get mutlicore tasks. I don't have an app_config.xml but I do have a cc_config.xml file to tell BOINC to only use 4 cores:

$ cat /var/lib/boinc/cc_config.xml <cc_config> <options> <ncpus>4</ncpus> </options> </cc_config>

I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

But I am sure that you can block single core tasks using app_config.xml as described in this thread and setting max_concurrent to 0 as you suggest.

Setting the max_concurrent to 0 (zero) is ignored.

I'm using this setting for most of my PCs and it is working fine !

Maybe you should check for variying preferences with None/Home/School/Work

Would <max_concurrent>0</max_concurrent> in the app_config.xml work?

No, this doesn't work

Since i only have this one machine attached to atlas, there are no other profiles but the standard one.

Would <max_concurrent>0</max_concurrent> in the app_config.xml work?
No, this doesn't work

Thanks for clearification, i suggested that much.

So the problem stays unsolved :-(

Cheers, djoser.

Herve

with the settings above, it's clear that you will receive single core WUs in case no Multicores are available.

Indeed Erich, after changing "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" to No, I only receive Multiple Core WUs.

I was however under the impression that both Singlecore and Multicore WUs were available and this setting would not make a difference, but I was wrong.

Cheers,
