When coming home tonight I found this monster "running" (better said : killing) my iMac, even though I have 16 GB or RAM it was declared using above 8 GB running (BoincTask was saying), but my Boinc was eating 12 GB by itself (*), I had almost no physical memory remaining, the Mac was almost frozen, I thought I was going to have to force reboot it but finally boinc manager accepted to react and I could cancel the task.
Now all is back to normal.
It is "ATLAS Simulation Running on Multiple Core v1.04 (vbox_64_mt_mcore)".
Is this supposed to happen ?
(*) some other pending tasks including some LHC VM tasks were let in memory (I normally use the "let in memory while pending" parameter in order to protect "non break-pointed boinc applications")
edit : I realize this task went even bigger a few days ago but I was not home and it finally terminated properly, but it claims to peak at 9 GB !! this is crazy !
edit2 : maybe I should have read this first ? Anyway I'm trying the app_config to limit to 1 WU / 4 cores / 5700 MB
