I added the ATLAS@home project, but VirtualBox wasn't installed yet. So I finally found the page to download it from (the link in the project terms was out of date), installed it, and removed/re-added ATLAS@home.

So now what? Nothing is happening. I don't have any tasks from ATLAS, and I have no clue what, if anything, I'm supposed to do with VirtualBox. Would be nice if there was more info about this in the FAQ or something (if there is, I couldn't find it).

Welcome savannah,

did you check if AMD-V is enabled in your bios?
This feature is necessary to run atlas tasks.

All the bios are different but you have to check this :

or

Normally , your computer is enough strong to run the tasks.

You can have more informations in this checklist

Hope it helps you...

Great, but I have no idea how to do that. The article the FAQ links to for how to do that is Windows-specific.

I found various net links for mac and boinc :

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Tools_for_Mac_OS_X#Selecting_which_users_may_run_BOINC_Manager

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/MacBuild

http://boinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=4237

It may give you piece of information.

You are right saying it would be better if a mac-howtodo was written but to be sure to describe the process, it has to be done by a real mac user.

If you succeed your installation, why not post a thread with all the problems you encounter and you solve. It's the aim at this forum...

By the way ,
did you check in your account preferences,

if the amount of ram available for boinc is enough (at least 4GByte ,so at least more of 50% of your 8GBytes Ram)

if the disk place for boinc projects is higher than 10 GByte to be secure

if you have allowed the single-core and multi-core applications to be run

if you have an always-on net wire...

Atlas project is more difficult than other projects because of the use of virtual machines.
This is the weakness of this project for a common user.
But with a little effort , you can learn more than with the other projects.

If atlas tasks arrives later on your computer , you will have to set-up an xml file named app_config.xml , not to freeze your station, to keep the control and the way the tasks are executed.

But one step after another...
